Getting Ready!

I cannot believe how quickly this summer has flown by...and that school is starting in ONLY NINE DAYS!!!!  There's so much to do and so little time, but I am super excited to meet my new second graders!

Chantel (my daughter) came to school with me to help get things ready.
She spent most of the day relaxing in the tub and playing with sweet little Jerome. (Mrs. Weber's baby!)

Here's a picture of what the tub looks like without Chantel and Jerome in it.
This is where the student of the day gets to read and work!!

Chantel decided to try out my new rocket tent that goes with this year's theme...

Experiment Day

By Mathew Wolsey

For experiment day we put mentos in pop. The flavors were Dr. Pepper and Diet Dr. Pepper.  We found out that diet went higher. Then it started to rain.  Mrs Hanes said we could do some dietes. Mrs Lankford made a lava lamp by taking a bottle putting vegetable oil, water with food coloring, and alka seltzer in the bottle.  It released gases and bubbled like a lava lamp.

Indian Feathers

      BY BELLA BAKER

It was almost the end of Math time when Mrs. Lankford showed us a new game called Indian Feathers. It was very fun!!  Mrs. Lankford learned it at Academy with the other 2nd Grade teachers.  Mrs. Lankford beat Mrs. Hanes the first time!! Indian Feathers is one of my most favorite games!

If you want to play, follow the directions down below...

1.Two players hold a card to their head like a feather.

2.Two people have cards on their foreheads that have numbers. Then the third person that does not have a card on their head tells the people what the sum (answer to an addition problem) is.

3.The two people try to guess want their number is.

4.The first preson to say the number on thieir head gets the cards, but if it is a tie each person gets their card.

5.The person with the most cards at the end wins.

By Carlie Short

On March 26, 2013 we had  a 300 Fancy Feather party and it was awesome!

Mrs. Barnes brought us popsicles and the flavors were orange and raspberry.

When we finished, we noticed the sticks all had jokes on them.  We got to tell the jokes to each other.

Mrs. Lankford was taking pictures and everybody was striking a pose!

ETHAN--Math Teacher for the Day!

By Cooper Long

Today during math time, Ethan Wilkins was the teacher and he was so awesome!  The class thinks he should be a teacher everyday. When Ethan grows up he will probably want to be a teacher.

Rise & Shine....and Happy New Year!!

Last Friday, we (along with Mrs. Osborne's class) hosted Rise and Shine. We only had three days to practice, which is not a lot of time when you're trying to organize 45 second graders! The students kicked the assembly off with the Cha Cha Slide and then dove right into our New Year's themed Rise and Shine! They did such an awesome job, that they were rewarded with an extra recess!!!
